About me
I grew up in a distinctly artistic family and although I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design/ Illustration at Bath University, my drawing skill is mostly inherited and self-taught. After university I went on to have a variety of different careers but would always return to drawing. I am now focussing on my passion for drawing pet portraits full time.
My pencil portraits are unique pieces of artwork that can be a marvellous gift or keepsake for many generations. They capture ‘a moment in time’ and preserve an image that can be commemorated and treasured for years to come.
I was sketching from a very young age and have developed my true to life style of drawing. My deep-rooted love of working with pencil allows me to capture a physical likeness in my drawings whilst depicting the true character and personality of my subjects.
My artwork is created using the highest quality materials. For my graphite drawings, I use a mixture of Caran D’Ache and Derwent Graphic pencils. For my colour portraits, I use Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran D’Ache Pablo and Derwent Lightfast colour pencils. These are professional colouring pencils that will not fade over time. I work on a variety of acid free professional papers including Strathmore Bristol, Strathmore Coloured Pencil and Clairefontaine Pastelmat papers.
I am lucky enough to live in the stunning West Sussex countryside with my husband and our beautiful Labrador, Bee. She keeps me company every day while I work on creating life-like pet portraits. My love of dogs has meant that they tend to be what I draw most, but I have recently ventured into the horse world and love to draw these beautiful creatures. I am a huge fan of being outdoors and have a great appreciation for wildlife. I am currently expanding my portfolio with a variety of animals including country wildlife and cat portrait drawings.
