In order to create a true likeness, I require good quality photographs of your subject, showing as much detail and true colour as possible. My work is highly detailed, so the better the quality of the photograph, the more detailed the portrait will be. Although I will only work from one photograph, I ask for quite a few photographs so that I can get a feeling of the personality of your subject. I will then decide on what photograph I think will work best as a drawing and ensure you are happy with the choice before proceeding. If you are within a 15 mile radius of RH14 0DL, I am very happy to come and take photographs of your pet for a fee of £50. Further distances will also require a travelling fee.
I can send you a couple of images of the progression of the drawing if you would like. Otherwise I am also happy to just send you an image of the final drawing if you would like it to be a surprise.

When photographing your pet, please take time to consider the following tips:
Is the photograph high resolution?
The higher the resolution, the more detail it will have to ensure I get the fur, eyes and nose textures as life-like as I can.
Has the photo been taken in good light?
Natural outside light is best but only if it isn’t too sunny, which can cause unwanted shadows.
Is the picture blurred?
Working from blurred photos results in a poor-quality portrait, so I am unable to draw from blurred pictures.
Composition:
Get on the same eye level as your pet, and have them looking at you or to the side of you, not up at you, which isn’t a good composition.
Are the eyes visible?
I pride myself in capturing a true likeness mainly through the eyes, so these need to be clear. Please don’t use flash, as this will produce red-eye.
Multiple subjects do not have to be photographed together. It is best to get great quality photographs of them separately, then I will produce a layout of them together. Make sure you are consistent with lighting and composition for each subject, otherwise they may look odd when I put them together.
Lastly, it is worth taking more photographs than not enough!
